James M. Buchanan is the director of The James Buchanan Center for Political Economy. He won the Nobel Prize in Economic Science in 1986 as he was the one who developed the "public choice theory" of economics that unifies economics and political decision making. Professor Buchanan holds a B.A. from Middle Tennessee State College, a M.S. from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
